Electro / Mechanical Maintenance Technician

Position Overview:
Perform duties to install, maintain repair, rebuild and modify a variety of large and complicated equipment. Install and troubleshoot machinery using electrical, mechanical and pneumatic schematics. Possess strong understanding of PLCs, programmable touch screens, stepper motors, and servomotors, AC/DC motors and drives.

Under General Direction:
1. Use milling machine, lathes, surface grinders, and drill press to provide various products to increase production efficiency
2. Work from work orders, specifications, drawings, samples, manuals, handbook formulas, schedules, schematic, wiring diagrams and instructions.
3. Have the ability to fabricate using ARC, Gas and Tig welding and cut, thread and bend pipe
4. Possess basic skills of carpentry and plumbing
5. Install, maintain and repair printing presses and auxiliary equipment such as folders, collators, bindery units, buildings and environmental control devices.
6. Diagnose problems with existing production equipment, auxiliary units and purchased used equipment, analyze and evaluate conditions and necessary repairs or modifications required, estimate costs and determine most economical methods to obtain results consistent with reductions needs, outside service capabilities or in-house limitations
7. Dissemble equipment and analyze complicated, interrelated mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic functions, singly or in combinations to activate devices, and intricate, high-speed operations to extremely close tolerances
8. Determine extent of repairs required, repair or replace parts to include scraping bearing, fitting and aligning, and test for proper operations
9. Analyze operating problems determine causes and make temporary repairs to over come difficulties and maintain production.
10. Set up and operate a variety of machine tools to make replacement parts, modifications and adaptations.
11. Construct, alter and repair punch and die members, jigs and fixtures to very close tolerances.
12. Devise holding fixtures and special tooling, heat-treat and draw or temper parts as required
13. Perform ordinary welding and brazing operations, prepare foundations, move machinery, make simple, low voltage electrical repairs and report electronic and power distribution problems requiring outside service.
14. Maintain safe operating practice and good housekeeping conditions in the department
15. Notify supervisor of unusual equipment or operating problems.

**THIS IS A SECOND SHIFT POSITION**

This person must also have:
• Five years maintenance experience and/or formal training in electrical troubleshooting
• Be self-motivated, dependable and able to work independently
• Experience with printing and paper-converting equipment would be a plus (i.e., Kodak/Scitex, ITW Gluing Systems)
• Use machine and hand power tools, precision mechanical and electrical measuring instruments, gauges and hand tools
• Follow safety rules and keep work area in a clean and orderly condition
• Perform other related duties as assigned
